paintings and drawings

I was trained as a printmaker, studying with Bill Davison at UVM in the late '60's. I've painted sporadically ever since. Although I've occasionally shown work at UVM's Colburn Gallery and at other Burlington venues, I've never pursued an artworld career. Gestural abstraction has fascinated me since early exposure to Pollock and DeKooning; later influences would include Brice Marden and Francis Hewitt. I've never titled my work and have been careless about dates, so the chronology of these pieces is uncertain. When I get time I'll add more, both earlier and later than the few shown here now, which are from the 1990's. Click for larger views.
